UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FORT KENT
The Master of Science in Nursing Program
The UMFK MSN program provides working professionals like you with advanced practice skills. The 100% online format and the 7-week structure of the Master of Nursing program will provide you with the added flexibility you need to maintain a work/life balance while earning your degree. Make a difference in the area that matters to you most and choose from one of the following concentrations: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (A/GACNP) or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Expand your career and become the next advanced care clinician in nursing!
The Master of Science in Nursing program offers two concentrations:
As an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, you will provide care to patients over age 18, including older adults, both in hospitals and clinics. As you care for acutely ill patients, you will use evidence-based practice to assess patients, provide complex monitoring, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop complex treatment plans. You will focus on managing ongoing problems and preventing complications to support the best patient care outcomes.
The PMHNP program prepares the graduate to provide care for individuals across the lifespan (infant to adult), families, and populations at risk for psychiatric or mental health disorders. A PMHNP provides care to include the assessment, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric and mental health disorders across the lifespan.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and the master’s degree program in nursing at UMFK are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
